Your family probably doesn’t like leftovers, but we have come up with some fun games to use up leftovers. Now my kids regularly ask me to serve these unusual meals. Here are a couple:
Survivor Supper: This is based on an episode from Survivor. It works well if you have lots of 1-2 serving leftovers. Heat up the leftover meals and put one on each dinner plate. Place the plates on the table, and cover each one up. You can use upside-down bowls, clean dish towels, or napkins. Each member of the family takes a turn choosing one mystery meal. Once everyone has chosen, everyone can reveal their own meals. You can choose to allow them to trade, or, Survivor-style, make them eat whichever supper they chose.
Home Restaurant: This is a lot of fun, and again, it works best if you have several different kinds of leftovers. Heat up whatever you have. Come up with some dessert and drink options, if you can. Have your child make a menu for your restaurant. It should include drinks, entrees, side dishes and desserts. Set the table very nicely, with tablecloth, flowers or candles, etc. Have a child be the waiter. When all is ready, you can “open” the restaurant. The waiter greets each customer, hands them a menu, and takes their drink order. After serving the drink, they take their supper order and delivers it to you, the chef. You prepare each guest’s plate individually, and the waiter serves them their meal. At the end, they take their dessert order. Make sure the guests pretend to pay for their meal!
