After years of feeling guilty about the little bit of housecleaning I do (or don't do), I've finally realized that I'm not likely to change in any major way. So I've decided to shed the guilt, realize that yes, in a lot of ways I am lazy and unmotivated, but I also have many strengths so let's get on with life.
Part of this is our shifting generational values. The older generation, from what I can tell, just did what they had to do whether they felt like it or not. The newer generations seem not to have developed this very well--we're more into living life, pursuing creative and fulfilling endeavors, and going with our motivations. Having a clean home seems less important than enjoying a good life.
Personally, I'd rather have a good time with my kids and enjoy my hobbies and projects than spend hours a day cleaning. But I also want a fairly clean home--nothing stresses us out more than a constant mess.
So over the years I've been figuring out tricks that work for me and my lazy (but creative) personality. Some of these I've developed myself; others I've gleaned from other housewives.
I hope you will dialog with me as we learn how to have a clean home the lazy way!
