I have a terrible sweet tooth. It gets worse in the summertime, when my usual daily rigor relaxes and we enjoy ice cream and candy by the pool, and root beer floats from Sonic.
Though I had struggled with candida and many yeast infections in the past, I had learned to manage and practically eliminate these problems.
But two things happened this spring which threw my balance out the window: 1 - I had to go on antibiotics after a severe sinus infection, and 2 - this was followed hard by the beginning of summer and lots of sweet treats.
I took acidophilous, but it must have been a bad brand (it was not refrigerated), because it didn't work. I found myself, a few weeks later, with a double infection, the yeast one which lasted for an entire month, even after 2 rounds of prescription medicine.
After going back and forth between traditional medicine and natural remedies, I found an incredible website with a wealth of information and help on candida, including a weekly health survey for me to keep track of my progress, a detailed candida elimination diet plan, supportive forums and lots of recipes.
During this period I was weighed at the doctor's office several weeks apart, and that's when I found out that my Right Brain Diet Plan has been working--my weight is decreasing at a steady rate. Of course, now that I'm on the candida elimination diet, I know I'm losing weight. There's so many wonderful things I can't eat anymore! But this won't last forever, thank the Lord...
