August 4, 2007: Today Sean needed me to take the kids out all day so he could concentrate with his work and meet his deadline. So we spent the day at a Santa's North Pole (a small kids theme park) and had a lot of fun and ate junk food. I had started the sourdough bread process and forgot to tend to it as soon as we returned, so I had to stay up late forming it, rising it and baking it. The round loaf had flattened and they both ended up over-baked. We are eating the regular loaf now--I put quite a bit of rye into it, so it's a rye sourdough loaf, and it tastes okay. I want to try this recipe again with only whole-wheat flour and not over-baking it, and it should turn out very good. I got the sourdough bread baked just in time as we finished our two loaves of Pilgrim's Bread
I'm still getting used to using few lights. I often shower, brush my teeth and use the bathroom in the gloom--we have only a small north window in our bathroom, so not much natural light comes in.
