I finally saw a doctor, a D.O., about my extreme energy fluctuations. He did an extensive interview of my history and took some blood tests, and low and behold, I've been struggling with anemia again, these past 5-10 years. I had anemia in high school but hadn't thought of it since then. Now that I'm on iron supplements, my energy has come back with a flourish!
I can actually do a high-energy activity all day, and I don't have to spend the whole next day recovering! Wooo!
I can go all day now, or almost all day, keeping busy and active, without a single break sometimes, while homeschooling my four kids. Woooo!
I do sometimes still have too much energy, and my brain gets overstimulated from all of my thoughts, ideas, readings, etc. Then I go to bed and can't sleep. So I have to learn some ways to calm my brain down at night. Calcium pills have helped in the past, and my doctor suggested meditation or calming activities right before bed. I'd much rather be dealing with too much energy than too little any day. Wooo hooo!
I just can't believe I've put up with the fatigue for so long. But, of course, when your brain is fuzzy and tired all the time, it's hard to think clearly about anything.
