Fun with Leftovers, Part III: Wacky Restaurant

I did this idea the other night and now my kids beg for it almost every day. But we don't have that many leftovers!

It's called the Wacky Restaurant. I heat up all of our leftovers, then come up with wacky names for them, and write them on a menu (read, index card). When a patron is ordering they have no idea what they're ordering! When they get their food, they are required to eat at least a bit of it before ordering something else. This meal is served in courses. Here's a sample menu:

BEVERAGES: God's Nectar (water); Dragonfly (ginger ale mixed with 2 kinds of gatorade); Air (an empty glass); Space Sip (milk); Earth Juice with a Worm (chocolate milk with a straw).

ENTREES:  Sunshine Mesa (a pumpkin stew); Bloody Bob (leftover hamburger patties heated up in sloppy joe sauce, served over an open-faced hamburger bun); Rollie Pollies (peas); Root Fruit (carrot sticks); Buzz Cut on a Chicken (veggie & egg quiche); Rye Fry, hoh hoh hoh (Rye French Toast--my family always adds a nasal laugh "hoh hoh hoh" whenever we're pretending to be French).

My kids take turns being the waiter, and for one meal they had fun coming up with all the names, too. Bon apetit!
