Okay, I just have to say a word about the Webkinz phenomena, which my four kids are well into and are building their ongoing collections.

First of all, the Webkinz and Lil'kinz stuffed animals are so cute, easily affordable, and almost everyone loves them--boys and girls from age five and up. So, for an inexpensive no-fail gift for your neices & nephews, grandkids, for birthday parties, Christmas, etc., it's an easy solution. And since they are affordable, my kids can save up their own money to buy one when they want to. (My daughter just got two for the price of one at a Hallmark sale!!)

Secondly, I haven't played the online games myself, but they look like a lot of fun, and even adults are getting into them. I like that some of the games are educational, and I love the idea that the kids can have their online pet build and decorate their own home, plan a garden and grow their own food, cook, "shop" and send virtual gifts to other online friends.

But what has been happening in our home lately tops them all. I have two girls (11 and 9) and two boys (8 and 6). Usually the girls play together and the boys play together. But now that they all have their own Webkinz, there are times when all four play together for several hours, laughing and having fun with their "pets." Twice now they've even come up with a play for their Webkinz to act in, figured out the story, made all the costumes and props via papercrafts, practiced and put on a cute show for their parents. Now that's creative play!!!
