I used to do a simple chart like this with "stickers" for the kids to move when they were toddlers and preschoolers. As they got older, I moved on to checking-off-boxes kind of charts. And over the years, the kids haven't done as well with those. So, now, even Mom gets to move stickers again, as we revert to a chart that has worked.
To make, simply make the background sheet, with names, and a "Chore" column and a "Done" column. Take a second sheet, and add either simple hand-drawn images or clip art, depicting the various chores everyone has. I had my kids color them in. I took both sheets to the copy store and had them both laminated. Then I just cut out the images, labeled them with a permanent marker (that part could have been done on the computer), and put tape on the backs. Every morning early, or right before bed, I move all of the stickers back to the "Chore" column. As everyone finishes their chores, they move their sticker to the "Done" column. I can look at a glance at who has finished which chores.
For my column, I have 2 daily chore stickers, plus a pile of chores which switch every day. They are all stacked on top of each other. Each day I take the top one to do as my third chore. I move it over, and since it's a weekly chore, it stays over in the "Done" column until I get through the whole pile. Then I'll restack them and start over.
